Information Sessions:
The county will host two information sessions at the beginning of the 2026 school year for parents and students to learn more about the different specialty center programs and the application process.
Information Sessions will be held and can be found on the HCPS website under Specialty Centers. Please join us Sept. 12 at Highland Springs High School from 11:00-2:00 and on Sept. 24 at JR Tucker High School from 6:00-8:00 for information about the centers.

Open House: The Center for Spanish Language and Global Citizenship will hold OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, October 15 at 6:30 PM. We will begin in the Tucker High School auditorium. You can enter through the bus loop doors.
Prospective students and parents are invited to hear from current students, faculty members and parents about the Center for Spanish Language and Global Citizenship. There will be a time of question and answer for students and parents as they make their decision to apply to the Center for Spanish Language and Global Citizenship.
Application
Applications will be available on September 28, 2026. Access the Center for Spanish Language application.
Application deadline will be November 13, 2026 at 11:59PM
Students will be provided application status/acceptance on February 12, 2027
Entrance Exam
Students who are applying to the Center for Spanish Language and Global Citizenship are expected to complete an entrance exam in Spanish. The exam will take place on Saturday January 9, 2027. The exam will be held on the campus at JR Tucker High School. The test will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. Students should bring their HCPS computer and charger. It is a multiple choice exam that includes listening, speaking, reading and writing sections in the target language of Spanish.
(In the case of weather cancellation, the make-up exam will be re-scheduled on Saturday January 16, 2027. If there is a scheduling conflict please reach out to Suzie Hester to schedule a day and time to test. shhester@henrico.k12.va.us
